28 MILES IN ONE DAY

This event is for experienced stand-up paddleboarders only — no casual floats here. We’re kicking off at 4:30 AM for a challenge that promises to be unforgettable: 28 miles on the Connecticut River in a single day. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just strength, stamina, and a shared sense of purpose. Last year, we conquered 21 miles. This year, we’re pushing even farther — paddling from Woodsville, NH to Piermont, NH, tracing the river’s path past Bradford and Newbury, VT, through farmland, forests, and eagle country. The current will help, and the views will inspire, but make no mistake — this is a full-day grind.

We’re targeting Saturday, August 23 as the paddle date, with Sunday, August 24 as a backup if weather requires a shift. We’ll be on the water by 6:00 AM, with logistics and shuttle setup starting at 4:30 AM. This route is 28 miles along the Connecticut River, and it’s open only to seasoned paddleboarders with solid SUP experience. Vehicles will be staged along the route to allow for access points and early exit options, if needed.

Because of the early start, plan on camping out Friday night, August 22, at Willoughby Rescue — a nonprofit farm animal rescue located at 1098 Wild Hill Road, Fairlee, VT. The fee is $25 per night (with an additional charge for RVs), and yes, RVs are welcome. Please note: do not book through HipCamp — we’ve reserved the space directly and you can pay cash when you arrive. For details, call (802) 727-0279 or visit (https://www.willoughbyrescue.org).

After the paddle, we’ll return to the rescue for well-earned rest, Colatina Exit pizza or Chinese food, and campfire stories under the stars. Want to join us on your own terms? You’re welcome to meet us at the start in Woodsville, NH, the finish in Piermont, NH, or along the way in Bradford or Newbury, VT.

This isn’t just a paddle — it’s a push beyond your limits. If you’ve been waiting for the challenge… this is it.

Can't join us this year? Plan on August 26 when we will add another 7 miles and attempt to SUP 35 miles in one day.
