Northeast BASE Camp

Northeast BASE Camp

Northeast BASE Camp

This fall, LGBTQ Outdoors New England is bringing together something a little different. From October 2-4, we will be hosting our first ever BASE Camp (Belonging, Adventure, Support, Exploration) in Rumney, New Hampshire, an area known for its access to beautiful trails, lakes, and rock climbing. Unlike our usual single day outings led by one ambassador, this event is a collaborative effort from our entire volunteer team across New England, offering a full weekend of outdoor activities and community connection in one shared space.

Participants can shape their own experience over the weekend. There will be a range of activities to choose from, including hiking, paddling, cycling, yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, and time to simply relax at basecamp or around a campfire. For those interested, there will also be an opportunity for rock climbing with a certified instructor for an additional cost. Lodging options include shared indoor bunk rooms or tent camping outdoors, and meals will be provided throughout the weekend, with the exception of an optional group outing to a local brewery.

This gathering is designed to be approachable and accessible, especially for those within driving distance who are looking for a simple weekend away. At the same time, anyone who feels drawn to join is more than welcome, no matter where they are coming from. While our larger trips often bring people together from across the country, this weekend is rooted in the idea of our local regional northeastern community, offering a chance to spend time outdoors, meet new people, and feel comfortable among others who share a love of nature and a commitment to inclusive and welcoming spaces.
