Step into the quiet beauty of the woods on the Upland Woods Trail at Wildwood Preserve Metropark. At approximately 2.5 miles round trip, this is the longest unpaved walking trail at Wildwood. The trail winds through a beautiful forest dominated by oak, maple, cherry, and sassafras trees, creating a peaceful woodland setting that feels wonderfully removed from the surrounding city.
As you follow the trail, the terrain rises and dips through the woods, offering something a little different around each bend. Two scenic overlooks provide views into fern covered slopes and lush ravines, making them natural places to pause, catch your breath, and take in the landscape.
This is a trail for slowing down and paying attention to the little things: sunlight filtering through the trees, birds calling from the canopy, ferns covering the ravine slopes, and the changing of colors of the forest throughout the seasons.
Whether you're hiking for exercise, enjoying some quiet time outdoors, photographing nature, or simply looking for a peaceful place to clear your mind, Upland Woods trail offers a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the natural world.
