The Great Autumn Tarantula Migration is happening in south-eastern Colorado! Yes you read that right! Let's go see!
This will be exploratory! Just feet away from the Colorado/Oklahoma border, we'll explore the canyon country of south-eastern Colorado. As we hike the Homestead Trail in Picture Canyon, we'll have the chance to see pictographs from ancient cultures, interesting geology, a spring, homestead ruins, and hopefully, tarantulas looking for love.
It's a long drive down there — but it's worth it! But have no fear (well maybe the tarantulas), we can carpool, camp, and enjoy amazing company while we keep an eye out for our furry, crawling friends. The leader will be leaving on Friday, October 9th and staying in Springfield, about 20 miles from Picture Canyon and will return to Denver after we finish our hike.
