Wildlife Adventure

Wildlife Adventure

Join LGBTQ Outdoors for a wildlife-focused adventure in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, two of the best places in the U.S. to observe animals in their natural habitat. This trip is perfect for wildlife lovers of all kinds – whether you’re interested in photography or simply enjoy watching and learning about wildlife.

The trip will be led by Justin Yoder, founder of LGBTQ Outdoors, an experienced wildlife enthusiast, and a professional photographer who will share educational photography tips and insights along the way. No photography experience is required – if you love wildlife but don’t care about taking photos, this trip is still a great fit!

We’ll move at a patient, intentional pace to increase our chances of sightings, with one day led by a professional local guide who knows the best areas to look for wildlife. Sunrise and sunset are often the best times to see animals active, so be prepared for early mornings and evening outings. That said, we’ll also build in some mid-day downtime to rest, recharge, and enjoy the scenery. While wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, the experience of being in these iconic parks is always rewarding. We’ll also enjoy a hike or two while taking in the incredible landscapes.

Who can join an LGBTQ Outdoors Adventure trip

Our trips are intended for adults in the LGBTQ+ community. We welcome all members of the LGBTQ+ community, including their straight or cis partners. Our goal is to create a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone.

What kind of accommodations can I expect?

We’ll be staying in a spacious, comfortable Airbnb. Some rooms have twin beds, while others feature multiple sets of bunk beds, so you can expect to share a room with a roommate/s. The house offers plenty of space to relax, plus a fire pit and hot tub for unwinding after a day of adventures.

Do I need to have photography, wildlife or hiking experience to participate?

No experience is needed — this trip is designed for adventurers of all levels. For those interested, we’ll offer photography tips and wildlife education along the way, and all hikes will be easy and accessible.

What is included in the cost of the trip

The price includes pick-up and drop-off at Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (within a selected pick-up time), accommodations, meals (starting with dinner the first night and ending with breakfast on the last day), activities, gear rentals, and park entry fees. Please note that travel to and from Wyoming is not included.

Do I need to bring my own gear?

A detailed packing list will be provided, but there are a few essential items you’ll need for this trip. If you plan to do photography, you’ll need to bring your own camera equipment. For those who don’t have gear or want to rent specialty lenses, we’ll provide recommendations. Binoculars or a spotting scope are also highly recommended to help you get the most out of wildlife viewing.

What about meals and dietary restrictions?

Three meals a day are provided and can accommodate most dietary needs with advance notice. Because wildlife viewing is best at sunrise and sunset, some meals may be at non-traditional times. Light breakfasts (pastries, fruit, oatmeal, and coffee) will be provided during sunrise outings, with snacks available throughout the day. One dinner will likely be eaten out and paid for by participants.

Will I feel welcome if attending solo?

Absolutely! Many participants join solo, and our trips foster a sense of community and connection, making it easy to form friendships.

What is the cancellation policy?

Deposits: While your deposit is nonrefundable, you can apply it to any other adventure this year or next. Refunds for Other Payments: For all other payments, you can receive a 100% refund up to 30 days before the start date. Within 30 days, we offer a 75% refund. Transfers: You can transfer your deposit and spot to another attendee at any time.

Can I make payments in installments?

Yes. All trips require a $250 nonrefundable deposit to secure your spot on the trip. Depending on the amount of the trip determines the amount of payments allowed. When you pay for the trip you have three options: Pay for the trip in full Pay the deposit and the balance later Pay the deposit and make payments allowed in payment form

Will I recieve a refund if I leave the trip early?

Unfortunately, by the time the trip is happening expenses have been paid for and cannot be refunded. Additionally, you are responsible for any additional costs such as, but not limited to flight changes or transportation to the airport.

Will we get a packing list?

Yes! Your trip leaders provide a detailed packing list!

Are scholarships available?

We occasionally have funds available to help support participation in our events and trips. If you’re in need of assistance, please reach out to us at info@lgbtqoutdoors.com
