Join us at Pedernales Falls State Park, located just west of Austin in the Texas Hill Country! This is a park with multiple outdoor options where you can camp, hike, mountain bike, picnic, geocache, bird watch, and ride horses. Pedernales River runs through the park, with Pedernales Falls being at the northern end of the park.
We will be hiking the Trammel’s Crossing Loop (5.5-Miles). This loop also utilizes the Cypress Mill Spur and Cypress Mill Loop trails to complete the 5.5 miles. Around the middle point of the hike, we will stop for breathtaking views at one of the Hill Country/River Overlooks. This hike crosses the river (at low water) and delivers great hill country and river scenery. There will be some inclines, it will be warm, with little shade, and you may get your feet wet crossing the river. So, the hike will be slightly short of difficult, and you will need to COME PREPARED with a minimum 4 to 5 bottles of water (68oz)!
After we complete the Trammels Crossing Loop we will drive to the northern part of the park, where we will hike just less than a mile to see thee Pedernales Falls. Then we will return to our cars and meet for a late lunch.
Tickets can be purchased online only one month prior to the event date. I recommend buying a ticket for the 8am to 10am entry window, so you can meet us by 10am. You can also by tickets for the 10am to 12pm entry because they’ll probably let you in a little before 10am. Do not wait to buy your tickets as they often reach capacity.
